Terms of Service

By accessing or using Cortex ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.

Cortex is currently in beta. The Service is provided on an "as-is" basis and may contain bugs, errors, or incomplete features. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time without notice. Features, interfaces, and functionality may change significantly during the beta period.

To use Cortex, you must create an account with a valid email address and a secure password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
• Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or harmful data
• Use the Service to store or transmit content that infringes on third-party rights
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service

Cortex integrates AI capabilities powered by Anthropic's Claude and includes web search functionality. AI-generated content is provided for informational purposes only and may contain inaccuracies. You should independently verify any AI-generated information before relying on it. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI outputs.

You retain ownership of all content you create, upload, or store in Cortex ("User Content"). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process, store, and display your User Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. We will not sell, share, or use your User Content for any purpose other than operating the Service.

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard practices. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. During the beta period, we recommend maintaining your own backups of important information. See our Privacy Policy for more details on how we handle your data.

The Service, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by Cortex and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Our trademarks and trade dress may not be used in connection with any product or service without prior written consent.

We may terminate or suspend your account at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. Upon account deletion:

• You may export all your data before deletion via the data export feature in Settings
• All your items, notes, and inbox entries will be permanently deleted
• Your profile will be deactivated and you will be signed out
• A minimal record (user ID, email, deletion date) will be retained for billing, audit, and abuse prevention purposes

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cortex and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the Service.

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
